Our furry buddies are adorable when they feel playful. There’s nothing cuter than a frisky pup happily bounding after his favorite plaything. New toys make great gifts for Fido! You can get store-bought toys, but you can also make some great DIY doggy toys. For instance, you can cut an old tee shirt into strips, and then braid the pieces together into a rope toy. Look online for more ideas. Just be careful with what you offer your pooch: items with sharp edges, small pieces, or dangling threads should be avoided.
If there’s one thing our canine friends love, it’s food. Just be sure to only give Fido things that are safe for him. Some good options are plain, cooked, meat without the bones, skin, or fat; sodium-free broth; cooked, unseasoned potatoes, green beans, peas, carrots, pumpkin, or squash; homemade beef, fish, or turkey jerky; and shredded deli meat. If you like cooking, you can make your furry friend some yummy homemade snacks. There are some great recipes for doggy treats online. Ask your vet for more information.
Does your canine buddy have thin fur? If so, a new doggy sweater may make a great gift for him. Just be sure that Fido’s clothes are not tight, constricting, or itchy. We also recommend avoiding items with zippers; dangling threads; or small pieces, like buttons.
We know, you can’t put a belly rub inside a Christmas stocking. However, at the end of the day, your beloved pet really wants nothing more than to spend some quality time with you. Talk to Fido, pet him, and play with him. You’ll be rewarded with unconditional love and tail wags, which are both very precious gifts.
